Join a Tradition of Care Nearly Two Centuries Old
For almost two centuries, Burkhart Cemetery has been cared for by the hands of its community. When you volunteer — whether for an hour or throughout the year — you help protect a sacred place where families come to remember, grieve, and heal. Your service becomes part of the legacy that has kept this ground peaceful for generations.
The “Start Here” section
Collects contact information, availability, and preferred volunteer roles. Helps the Board coordinate tasks, match volunteers to projects, and communicate upcoming opportunities. If you’re unsure where you fit, this form is the best place to start.

The Point App explanation
The POINT app gives Burkhart Cemetery a verifiable record of volunteer service, which strengthens our nonprofit compliance and credibility. Logged volunteer hours help us:
Show community support for grants
Meet IRS expectations for 501(c)(13) cemeteries
Maintain accurate records for Missouri nonprofit reporting
Demonstrate that the cemetery is active, supported, and legitimate
It’s a simple way to document the care volunteers give — and it helps protect the cemetery’s long‑term sustainability.
Volunteer Forms (under construction)
To keep Burkhart Cemetery safe, organized, and transparent, we use a small set of nonprofit‑standard forms for all volunteers. These forms protect volunteers, safeguard family privacy, and ensure accurate recordkeeping for our 501(c)(13) historic cemetery.
Whether you’re volunteering once, seasonally, or throughout the year, please complete the form that matches your role. Forms may be submitted electronically or in person during volunteer events.
Volunteer Liability Waiver
Acknowledges the natural risks of outdoor work, uneven terrain, weather exposure, and physical activity. Volunteers confirm they participate at their own risk and agree to follow all safety guidelines while on cemetery property. Required for all volunteers age 18 and older.
Ensures volunteers respect the privacy of families and burial records. Volunteers agree not to share or distribute any personal, historical, or sensitive information encountered during service.
Minor Volunteer Permission & Waiver
Required for volunteers under age 18. A parent or guardian must provide consent and acknowledge the same safety and liability terms required of adult volunteers. Minors must be supervised by an approved adult while volunteering.
Photo & Media Release (Optional)
Allows Burkhart Cemetery to use volunteer photos for community updates, historical documentation, or nonprofit reporting. Signing is optional and not required to volunteer.
Once your forms are received and approved, you may begin logging your service hours through the Point App.
Your Care Keeps This Place Alive
Since 1843, Burkhart Cemetery has endured because families and neighbors have always stepped forward. If you feel called to help — in any way, at any level — we welcome you with gratitude.
