Fence Repair Project – Protecting Burkhart Cemetery

Burkhart Cemetery is undertaking an essential repair to the perimeter fence to protect the grounds from neighboring cattle and preserve the dignity of this historic resting place. While a significant portion of the fence has already been replaced, 132 feet still require full restoration to ensure long‑term safety and stability.

This remaining section includes removing old fencing, clearing brush and trees, and installing a new 5‑strand high‑tensile barbed wire system. With five strands stretched across the 132‑foot line, this equals 660 feet of wire, creating a strong, durable barrier designed to last for decades.

The total cost of completing this project is $4,500, covering:

Removal of old fence and trees

Brush clearing along the fence line

Installation of 660 ft of new 5‑strand high‑tensile barbed wire

T‑posts and 2 7/8" pipe

Welding and professional installation

Post‑pounder equipment rental

Labor for safe, reliable construction

Finishing this repair will prevent livestock from entering the cemetery, protect headstones and trees from damage, and maintain the peaceful environment families expect when visiting loved ones.

Your donation directly supports this critical project and helps preserve Burkhart Cemetery for future generations.
